What is the IND?

What is the IND?

The Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) manages the stay of foreigners in the Netherlands. Au pairs coming to the Netherlands for cultural exchange also need a residence permit from the IND.

Procedure with the IND

As an au pair agency, we must follow all the rules and regulations set by the IND. As a recognised au pair agency, we are up-to-date with the latest developments and maintain close communication with the IND. It is a crucial requirement from the IND that host families understand the tasks, benefits, and cultural exchange involved.

Tasks and benefits for au pairs

Au pairs assist with childcare and may help with light household tasks. In return, they receive accommodation, meals, and pocket money to explore the Netherlands. Living with a host family provides an opportunity to learn about Dutch culture and share experiences with the family.

Cultural exchange

The au pair experience fosters understanding and knowledge of different cultures, as au pairs and their host families live together and share experiences.

As a host family, you will not have to deal with the IND directly, as we handle all communication with them. Have a specific question? Get in touch with us.
