First Aid & Au Pair training

Starting from 2024, all our au pairs will have completed an online First Aid & Au Pair training before joining your family. This training is specially designed for au pairs to provide them with knowledge, advice, and practical skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for their au pair adventure in the Netherlands.

Why is this training mandatory?

We believe it is important for our au pairs to start their cultural exchange in the Netherlands well-prepared. Au pairs must have demonstrable experience with children and provide various references. By offering additional training, we refresh the au pair's knowledge on important topics. This way, the au pair not only learns more about First Aid for both indoors and outdoors but also about the au pair program and cultural differences. The online course covers various essential topics, including:

  • Child development
    Au pairs will learn about the developmental stages of children, age-appropriate activities, and behaviour management.
  • Basic childcare skills
    Au pairs will learn basic childcare skills such as holding a baby, changing nappies, preparing bottles and meals, dressing children, and hygiene and bedtime routines.
  • Home safety
    Au pairs will be taught the basic principles of home safety, including dealing with pets, kitchen accidents, and emergencies.
  • First aid and medical care
    The training covers handling serious injuries and illnesses, cuts, abrasions, bleeding, head injuries, fractures, bumps, bruises, burns, bites, stings, allergies, asthma, medication safety, food poisoning, choking, and more.
  • Outdoor safety
    Au pairs will learn about safety measures during transport, swimming/water safety, protection from sun and heat exposure, and playground safety.
  • Au pair training
    Au pairs will benefit from comprehensive information on becoming an au pair, dealing with cultural differences, connecting with host families and new friends, understanding expectations, and ensuring their personal safety.
