My name is Annelies and I have lived in Haarlem for over twenty years with my husband and two children. Originally, I moved here for love, and I still consider it a privilege to live here.After studying International Relations in Groningen, I worked for many years for an expat agency and later as a team leader and account manager in healthcare. I enjoy the good life, which for me means cooking delicious meals and enjoying dinner with family and friends. To stay balanced, I like to keep active. I enjoy walking and running and can often be found at the gym for bodypump or a yoga class. Additionally, I participate in Theatresports, a form of improvisational theatre, which stimulates my creativity and helps me with themes like control and letting go.
My greatest hobby is going out with my family. My children are now teenagers, so they do not always want to go out with their mother, but fortunately, they are always up for a rafting trip or a fun city break.
Together with the team, I am always working on further developing the Au Pair Holland program. I find it a beautiful idea that, besides providing practical benefits for a busy young family, we create understanding and curiosity for other cultures and lifestyles through cultural exchange. I am proud that in this way, we can contribute a bit to promoting a more tolerant society. My ambition is to elevate the presence of au pairs in the Netherlands, ensuring that Au Pair Holland becomes a trusted and reliable destination for both our host families and our au pairs.

My name is Berenice, and I am currently studying Legal Insurance & HR in Utrecht. As part of my studies I am doing an internship at Au Pair Holland!I live in Amsterdam and have always had a passion for cultures. I find it so beautiful that every country has its own culture and that we live in a multicultural society in the Netherlands. When I found out that a company like Au Pair Holland also has a legal side, my internship choice was easily made.
I was raised trilingual and would love to learn 10 more languages. My hobbies are very diverse: I am very curious and try out all kinds of things. For example, I have done many different sports such as kickboxing, kung fu, and dancing. I am also very creative and always try new things like crocheting, painting, or drawing.
With lots of enthusiasm, I am part of the Au Pair Holland team. I am even starting to consider becoming an au pair abroad myself. It is a program where both families and au pairs have a unique experience, amazing!

After gaining several years of work experience, I always wanted to live somewhere other than the Netherlands. I ended up living in Bonaire for about 1.5 years. This experience broadened my horizons and expanded my view of the world. Upon returning to the Netherlands, I wanted to do something involving culture, connection, and people. At Au Pair Holland, all these elements come together, and I am dedicated to making the au pair program a great success.Malou

When I went to Kenya for an internship in 2010 for three and a half months, a door opened for me. "There is a whole other world out there; there is more than just our culture in the Netherlands." My love and curiosity for other cultures were born there and have never ceased, especially the wonder that people with completely different norms, values, and customs can form deep connections with each other. This led me to first study social care and then (applied) psychology, travel extensively, and lived abroad with my partner for a while. After working in social care in direct assistance for ten years, I wanted a change. I came across Travel Active and was immediately enthusiastic. A job that involves psychology, social work, and different cultures. And also working with adolescents, which is my favourite age group. Everything comes together, and I do my work with great pleasure. It feels very rewarding to play a role and provide support in the lives of young people who are undertaking such valuable cultural exchanges.As a Program Support Counselor at Au Pair Holland, my focus is on ensuring the well-being of the au pairs and host families, providing support, and sharing my knowledge and expertise, particularly in the areas of pedagogy, communication, and cultural integration.

In 1985, 1986, and 1987, I worked as a tennis counsellor at a summer camp in America. This experience inspired me to establish Travel Active 35 years ago. I believe everyone should have the chance to discover a different language and culture abroad through cultural exchange.At Au Pair Holland, I have turned the concept around. Here, you can discover a different culture and language right from your home! The au pair program is a cultural exchange that offers young people from abroad a unique experience and provides you, as a host family, with reliable childcare. A true win-win situation!
